For October, I decided to use vintage photographs and mathematical graphic representations as collage materials. The main variation for this month was the proportion between vertical and horizontal.

“12 Months, 12 Rules” is the third annual edition of this project, which began in 2014. The title, in Spanish, means 12 meses, 12 pautas, and is a readaptation of a TV slogan. Each year, the project focuses on a central element; in 2014, it was reappropriation, which inspired the title.

Para octubre, decidí utilizar fotografías antiguas y representaciones gráficas matemáticas como materiales para los collages. La variación principal de este mes fue la proporción entre vertical y horizontal.

“12 Meses, 12 Pautas” es la tercera edición anual de este proyecto, que comenzó en 2014. El título significa 12 meses, 12 pautas y es una readaptación de un eslogan televisivo. Cada año, el proyecto se centra en un elemento esencial; en 2014 fue la reapropiación, de ahí el título.

Each month has a set of rules: one concerns the format, while the others relate to the materials used, the theme, color, composition, and so on. Working on this type of project forces me to explore the different dialogues that emerge within the language of collage. I create the rules a few days before the start of the month. An unwritten rule is that each month’s variables must differ from those of the others.

Cada mes tiene un conjunto de reglas: una se refiere al formato, y las demás al material utilizado, al tema, al color, a la composición, etc. Trabajar en este tipo de proyecto me obliga a investigar los distintos diálogos que surgen en el lenguaje del collage. Creo las reglas unos días antes de comenzar el mes, y una regla no escrita es que las variables de cada mes deben ser diferentes a las de los demás.
