June arrived with a new starting point: using shapes as the initial structure to build each collage, working on a black A4 background. This shift emphasized contrast, silhouette, and composition from the very first gesture.
“12 Months, 12 Rules” is the third annual edition of a daily project that began in 2014. The title, in Spanish 12 meses, 12 pautas, is a reinterpretation of a television slogan. Each year the project is structured around an essential concept; in 2016, this axis was reappropriation, which gives meaning to the title.
Each month is defined by a set of rules: one related to format and others concerning materials, theme, color, composition, and support. Working within these constraints pushes me to investigate the different dialogues that emerge within the language of collage. The rules are established a few days before the beginning of each month, and one unwritten rule is that the variables must differ from those of the previous months, as radically as possible.
Junio llegó con un nuevo punto de partida: utilizar formas como estructura inicial para construir cada collage, trabajando sobre un fondo negro en formato A4. Este cambio enfatizó el contraste, la silueta y la composición desde el primer gesto.
“12 Meses, 12 Pautas” es el tercer año de un proyecto diario iniciado en 2014. El título es una reinterpretación de un eslogan televisivo. Cada año el proyecto se articula a partir de un eje conceptual esencial; en 2016 ese eje fue la reapropiación, que da sentido al título.
Cada mes se define por un conjunto de reglas: una relacionada con el formato y otras vinculadas a los materiales, el tema, el color, la composición y el soporte. Trabajar bajo estas limitaciones me impulsa a investigar los distintos diálogos que surgen dentro del lenguaje del collage. Las reglas se establecen pocos días antes de comenzar cada mes y existe una norma no escrita: las variables deben diferir de las de los meses anteriores, de la manera más radical posible.
