The proposal arises from reflecting on new masculinities. I do not want to center the message strictly on gender issues or a queer narrative (although that dimension is present). Instead, I aim to find a common element that connects everyone. For this reason, I decided to adopt and slightly transform the Genesis story (the first text of the Bible). I understand the Bible as a foundational Western narrative and therefore chose it as a starting point.
First, we must imagine time as circular, not linear. What would happen if a human were born when God pulled out Adam’s rib—and grew into a man? This man would carry within his mind, within his DNA, all contemporary men: all forms of machismo, all power structures of a patriarchal society. Growing up with this knowledge of injustices, he would give rise to new men—fragile men, empathetic men, men with sorority—who stand in opposition to a binary worldview and allow for the growth of a new society.

La propuesta surge a partir de una reflexión sobre las nuevas masculinidades. No quiero centrar el mensaje únicamente en cuestiones de género o en un discurso queer (aunque esa dimensión existe). Mi intención es encontrar un elemento común que nos conecte a todos. Por eso decidí adoptar y transformar ligeramente el relato del Génesis (el primer texto de la Biblia). Entiendo la Biblia como un relato fundamental de la cultura occidental, y por este motivo la tomé como punto de partida.
En primer lugar, debemos imaginar el tiempo como algo circular, no lineal. ¿Qué ocurriría si un ser humano naciera en el momento en que Dios extrae la costilla de Adán—y creciera como un hombre? Ese hombre llevaría en su mente, en su ADN, a todos los hombres actuales: todo el machismo, todas las estructuras de poder de una sociedad patriarcal. Al crecer con la conciencia de estas injusticias, daría lugar a nuevos hombres: hombres frágiles, empáticos, hombres con sororidad, que se oponen a un mundo binario y permiten que crezca una nueva sociedad.

“The Rib” begins with the Genesis fragment about the creation of Eve, but I replace the birth of a woman with the birth of a man. This alteration transforms the entire course of societal evolution, giving rise to a new kind of man and, consequently, a new kind of society.
“La costilla” parte del fragmento del Génesis sobre la creación de Eva, pero sustituyo el nacimiento de una mujer por el de un hombre. Este acto cambia toda la evolución de la sociedad, dando lugar a un nuevo tipo de hombre y, en consecuencia, a una nueva sociedad.
